Zamburiñas are small Galician scallops that are popular in Spanish cuisine, particularly in the northwestern regions of Spain 🇪🇸
These delicate mollusks are are known for their exquisite flavor👌
Their shell is variegated in color, ranging from white to pink, red, orange, yellow or purple.
Zamburiñas are prized for their tender meat and delicate flavor. Both the muscle and coral (roe) are edible, with the coral being especially tender in zamburiñas compared to larger scallops.They are popular in Spanish cuisine, particularly in the Galicia region.
They are found in shallow coastal waters up to about 100m deep, often living under rocks or among seaweed.
Their shells were historically used as a symbol by pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago ✝️
These Zamburiñas are cooked in the traditional way pan-frying them with extra virgin olive oil, garlic, parsley and some extra love as a key ingredient 😉
